What Chammary does

Chammary is a web application and a Chrome extension that captures YouTube video transcripts, stores them, and lets you chat with the content of videos you've watched.

Data we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (name, profile picture). This is used to identify your account and is stored in our database.

YouTube video data

When you visit a YouTube video page, Chammary automatically collects:

• Video metadata: title, description, duration, channel name, thumbnail
• Video transcripts and captions, including timestamps

This data is uploaded to our servers so you can chat with it later.

Chat messages

Messages you send in the Chammary side panel are sent to our backend for AI processing and stored in our database linked to your account.

User preferences

Your preferred transcript language is stored in our database.

Data stored locally

Chammary stores the following in your browser's local storage:

• Your authentication session tokens
• A queue of pending transcript uploads
• A list of video IDs already processed, to avoid duplicates

How we use your data

• To process and store video transcripts for retrieval
• To enable AI-powered chat about video content
• To maintain your account and preferences

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion by asking a bot in a chat or contacting us directly.
